For normal use, with a few track days a year, our IDEMITSU 10W30 oil is recommended.

For exclusive use on track days and with engines with high mileage or years, we recommend our IDEMITSU 20W50 oil.

We do NOT recommend it.

The oil in these engines is ESSENTIAL to extend the life of your engine. The oil does nothing more than lubricate the rotor walls.

The rotary/wankel engines of the Mazda RX8 work by BURNING OIL. This oil, when burned, leaves a residue colloquially called "carbonilla". This is something that happens over the years/km and if the oil you use leaves a lot of this residue, the life of your engine will be in danger.

That is why this oil is totally recommended; it is formulated exclusively for the rotary/wankel engines of the Mazda RX8 and Mazda RX7, lubricating and reducing waste.

Premixing oil into gasoline consists of adding a little specific lubricating oil to the gas tank when refueling. The benefits achieved with this are the following:

• There are days when the Mazda RX-8's Wankel rotary engine is more clumsy, with the premix those days are eliminated.
• We reduce losses or dips in power.
• We increase the effective compression of the engine.
• We increase the linearity of the engine's operation, reducing its wear and increasing its longevity.

Idemitsu oil is a great engine lubricant. It works for all types of engines, although it is SPECIALLY FORMULATED FOR WANKEL ROTARY ENGINES like the MAZDA RX-8.

Its use in this type of engine is indicated because IDEMITSU oil does not generate as much residue when burned as other conventional oils.

Wankel rotary engines like those in the MAZDA RX-8 and MAZDA RX-7 use oil to seal their combustion chambers. This oil burns with the air-fuel mixture during combustion. Over time, the residue from the oil combustion accumulates inside the engine and causes serious failures, even rendering it unusable.

IDEMITSU rotary engine oil is specially formulated to minimize these deposits, extending its useful life.

If you are looking for a quick and concise answer, we are sorry to say NO.

Oil will not help you fix your engine.

But, our IDEMITSU 20/50 oil can help you extend the life of your Mazda RX8 rotary/Wankel engine when you have an engine with low compression.

According to the manufacturer, oil changes in rotary engines are done every 20,000 km, in normal use. We do not recommend extending them that long.

Wankel engines are engines that generate a lot of heat, at high temperatures the properties of the oil begin to decline, to ensure you ALWAYS have the best oil in your Wankel/rotary engine, our advice is to change it every 10,000/15,000.

For very sporty use, we recommend that you change it every 5000/8000 km.

If you do not reach these annual mileages in your rotary engine, it is advisable to perform an ANNUAL oil change, this way you will always have your engine and its oil in perfect condition.

Remember that oil is ESSENTIAL to extend the life of your rotary/wankel engine.

To do a SIMPLE oil change by capacity, 4 quarts are needed.

But there is a procedure for changing the oil in the Wankel/rotary engines of the Mazda RX8

If you use this procedure, which consists of also emptying the oil radiators, 5 quarts are needed, of which you will have more than half a quart left to refill as the level drops.

The procedure for a good oil change in the Wankel/rotary engines of the Mazda RX8, consists of emptying the oil radiators that are in the front of the car.

To do this, once the crankcase of your Mazda RX8 is empty, you must cover it again and lift the car on both sides for a reasonable time so that the oil goes down to the crankcase. This way, we ensure that all the oil in the engine is of the highest quality.
